The Filtered Shower Head

How to install your KLAROVAI shower head

Last updated

This step-by-step guide walks you through fitting your KLAROVAI Filtered Shower Head. It takes about five minutes and needs no tools or plumber. Before you start, check the box: 2 shower heads, 2 hoses, a wall holder, spare cartridges and a roll of sealing tape.

Not suitable for electric showers. If your shower has its own box on the wall that heats the water, this head is not for it. It fits mixer, combi-boiler and power showers with a standard UK 1/2-inch hose.

Installation steps

  1. Turn off the water

Close the shower valve or mixer tap so nothing runs while you work. Keep a towel handy for the water left in the old hose.

  2. Unscrew your old shower head

Twist the old head anticlockwise off the end of the hose. Hands are usually enough; a cloth gives you grip if it is tight. Keep it — you will want it back on move-out day if you rent.

  3. Decide: keep your hose or use ours

Your existing hose is fine if it is a standard 1/2-inch fitting and not leaking. To use the hose in the box, unscrew the old hose from the mixer outlet as well and wipe the threads clean of old tape and grit.

  4. Wrap the sealing tape

Wind the tape 3–4 turns clockwise around the thread on the mixer outlet (and on the hose end, if you like). It fills the gap and stops drips.

  5. Screw on the hose

Attach the hose to the mixer outlet and tighten by hand until snug. Do not over-tighten — hand-tight is enough and protects the threads.

  6. Screw on the KLAROVAI head

Attach the other end of the hose to the base of the handle. Hand-tight again. Make sure the small rubber washer is sitting flat inside the nut.

  7. Fit the wall holder

Slide the head into the holder on your riser rail or wall bracket. The holder in the box is made to take the weight of the cartridge.

  8. Flush the cartridge for 60 seconds

Turn the water on slowly and let it run for a minute before you shower. A little grey or cloudy water at first is carbon dust from the new cartridge — it clears quickly.

  9. Check for drips

Look at both hose ends. A drip means the nut is not seated or needs one more turn of tape. Tighten a quarter turn by hand and re-check.

  10. Pick your spray

Twist the face to switch between rainfall, mixed and mist. Press the button on the handle to pause the flow while you lather.

Tips for a smooth installation

  • Everything is hand-tight only. Tools crack plastic nuts.
  • If a drip persists, add two more turns of tape rather than more force.
  • Low pressure at first is often the cartridge settling — give it a full shower before judging it.
  • Renting? Keep the old head and hose in a drawer. Swapping back takes two minutes.
